Best Business Lunch in Edinburgh: Our New Daily Italian Menu

There is something uniquely satisfying about an Italian lunch. It sits somewhere between the grab-and-go sandwiches that pass for lunch in most British cities and the full evening dining experience, substantial enough to feel like a proper meal, light enough to carry you through the afternoon, and always accompanied by the possibility of a glass of something excellent. The true highlight, however, is the taste: Italian lunches are celebrated for their rich flavors and sensory enjoyment, making every bite a memorable experience.

At Divino Enoteca, we are thrilled to announce that our lunch service now runs seven days a week. Whether you are looking for a quick business lunch, a leisurely midweek catch-up with friends, or a Saturday afternoon that stretches deliciously into the evening, our new lunch menu has been designed to bring the best of Italian lunchtime culture to Edinburgh.

Our Lunch Philosophy

In Italy, lunch is not an afterthought, it is an event. The midday meal holds a position of importance in Italian culture that can be difficult to appreciate from a British perspective. Shops close, families gather, and the kitchen produces dishes every bit as considered as those served in the evening.

We have built our lunch menu around this philosophy. Every dish is prepared with the same care, the same DOP and IGP certified ingredients, and the same attention to seasonality that defines our evening menu. The difference is in the pacing and the format: lunch at Divino is designed to fit into your day, whether you have a leisurely two hours or a focused forty-five minutes.

In Edinburgh, set lunch menus typically feature three courses for a fixed price, offering diners a value-oriented way to experience top restaurants. This approach is popular among both locals and visitors for its affordability and the opportunity to enjoy a complete meal with a starter, main, and dessert.

What’s on the Lunch Menu

Starters and Light Plates

Our lunch starters are designed for sharing or enjoying solo. Think burrata with heritage tomatoes and aged balsamic, a selection of Italian cured meats and cheeses sourced directly from small Italian producers, or a seasonal soup made with whatever is best at the market that week. For those looking for something lighter, our insalata menu offers fresh, vibrant salads that go well beyond the usual fare.

Pasta and Risotto

The heart of any Italian lunch. Our pasta is made fresh daily, and the sauces change with the seasons. You might find a classic cacio e pepe one week, a rich wild boar ragù the next, and a light courgette and lemon linguine in the summer months. Our risotto, made with proper Carnaroli rice and finished with butter and Parmigiano-Reggiano, is one of the most popular dishes on the lunch menu.

Main Courses

For those wanting something more substantial, our lunch mains include grilled fish of the day, a selection of meat dishes, and seasonal vegetarian options. These are plated as you would expect at dinner, but portioned and priced for a lunchtime meal.

Dessert and Coffee

No Italian lunch is complete without a sweet finish. Our dessert menu includes house-made tiramisu, panna cotta, and a selection of Italian gelato. And of course, proper Italian espresso to close.

The Set Lunch Menu: Exceptional Value

For diners looking for a straightforward, well-priced lunch, our set menu offers two courses for a fixed price, with the option to add a third course or a glass of wine. The set menu changes weekly to reflect seasonal availability and our kitchen’s inspiration, but always includes a starter, a pasta or main course, and a dessert option.

The set lunch is particularly popular with business diners and those visiting during a day of sightseeing. It offers the full Divino experience – quality ingredients, expert preparation, and beautiful presentation – at a price that makes regular visits entirely feasible.

Our central location on Merchant Street, just minutes from the financial district and the legal quarter, makes us easy to reach. For larger business groups, our private dining rooms are available for lunchtime bookings. These offer complete privacy, dedicated service, and the option of bespoke menus tailored to your requirements. Wi-Fi, AV equipment, and presentation facilities are available on request.

Edinburgh’s dining scene features venues suited for both casual and formal business lunches, accommodating different group sizes and preferences.

Weekend Lunch at Divino

Weekday lunches at Divino have a brisk, purposeful energy. Weekend lunches are a different animal entirely.

Saturday and Sunday lunches at Divino are designed for lingering. The kitchen runs a slightly expanded menu, the wine list comes into its own with bottles you might not choose on a Tuesday, and the pace slows to something more Mediterranean. It is not uncommon for a Saturday lunch party to arrive at noon and still be happily settled in at four o’clock.

Our Sunday lunch has quickly become one of the most popular new additions to our schedule. For families especially, it offers a chance to gather around a table of shared Italian food in a way that feels genuinely special without the formality of a full evening out.
